Grupo MCI was selected as the company in charge for the outdoor lighting project of a new Palace in Abu Dhabi. The project is carried out over an area of 150 hectares and will have a total cost around$490 Millions.

To enhance the architectural elements of the façades, columns, windows, domes, etc., LED lighting fixtures from the Architectural Indoor&Outdoor LED Lighting 2014/15 have been supplied. Those LED lighting fixtures offers low power consumption and a lifespan up to 50.000 hours (over 10 years), allowing reduced maintenance costs.

Total luminaries supplied for the project:

. 1.900 Line Grazer® warm white in different sizes (300 mm, 600 mm and 1200 mm ) to enhance windows, walls and columns. Line Grazer® is a linear lighting wall washer that suits perfect to highlight outdoor applications offering powerful and efficient wall washing effects (up to 4800 lm) and providing a high environmental protection grade (IP66) as well as impact resistance (IK09).

. 6.700 meters of Linear Flex® Ultra Plus 72W warm white to illuminate the arches of the main buildings. Linear Flex® is perfect for applications with curving surfaces or limited space like in this case and is used to provide indirect light and high efficiency (up to 3600 lm/m). Its small size enables it to be seamlessly integrated into architectural spaces.

. 350 Square Grazer® RGB in different versions (40, 66, and 66×2 LED), to illuminate with colour changing, a total of 20 domes. To achieve a uniform lighting effect in all domes, Grupo MCI has combined different optics, powers and orientation of the projectors. Square Grazer®´s unique design, with PSU integrated, is a perfect solution for architectural illumination using 48W, 66W or 132W that perfectly fits as part of the architecture. The swivel head projector comes with a wide range of colours (from cold white to RGBW) and optics (9º, 28º, 45 and 10×50) which helps to create many lighting atmospheres with great precision.

. 500 Ground Liner® warm white to be placed on the bottom of the windows. Ground Liner® made with aluminium body is a LED linear lighting fixture embedded, is perfect for lighting projects which require a continuous and linear lighting effect.

The Palace will cost $490 Millions and it’s built on an area of 150 hectares with a built up area of over 160, 000 square meters. The project will contain several VIP wings, a Ministers wing, and several majlis and dining halls. The common areas of the Palace will utilize an additional 5, 614 square meters and will include a main entrance hall, main hall, fountain courtyard, media hall and a press center. The ancillary buildings, which will cover over 23, 000 square meters, will include a public majlis, mosque, staff and military accommodations, a services compound, and various gatehouses and watchtowers.

The new Palace in Abu Dhabi will take its place as a prominent statement of pride and a symbol of leadership within the UAE and the GCC. The Palace will house the offices of The President His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, The Vice President His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum and The Crown Prince His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan.
